Geocaching is a new, fun way to go out and explore the beauty of Charleston, West Virginia. Some may be wondering what exactly this geocaching is? Well, think of it as a high-tech version of an old-fashioned treasure hunt. Instead of depending on the traditional X to mark the spot, cachers everywhere use a Global Tracking Device (GPS) to find exactly what they’re searching for. These caches may take you anywhere from the nearest parking lot where you may find the trinket nestled into the lamppost, or even out to the Kanawha State Forest. You might have to go searching under rocks to find that elusive prize. Once you’ve conquered finding a cache there are logbooks that allow hunters to prove that they have been there as well as tell who has been at that location previously. Sign it, and keep on searching to see just how many caches you can find!
Caches can be scattered all throughout the city, so you may find some within walking distance, or just a short 5-10 minute drive away from the Holiday Inn. Make sure to look up the location of each nearby cache using our free high-speed wireless Internet while enjoying your stay here. And don’t forget to bring your little pal along too, as our hotel is indeed pet friendly. If you have any questions, stop by the front desk where any of our employees will be glad to help you. So get out there, and leave your mark all around this city!
